Wave sign Veteran Defender Fabinho Ribeiro

More signs that the MISL season is fast approaching today as the defending MISL Champion Milwaukee Wave announced their first signings of the 2011 offseason. Defender, Fabinho Ribeiro, agreed to a 3 year contract with the team.

“We are very happy to have signed such a talented defender. We feel Fabinho will fit in very well into our system. His size, technical ability, tenacity and ability to get into the offensive attack will be a great addition,” stated Wave’s Head Coach Keith Tozer.

Ribeiro, a native of Brazil, is a veteran defender that began his career in the MISL in 2003-2004. Ribeiro played last season with the Omaha Vipers registering 18 blocks and 9 points. He has also played for the Baltimore Blast, Rockford Rampage, Chicago Storm, Kansas City Comets, and Dallas Sidekicks over the years. Ribeiro was a member of the Brazilian National Futsal Team (1996-99) helping Brazil win the international Futsal championship in 1999.

“I am thrilled to join the Milwaukee Wave. I am excited to work with a great coach and experienced players. I am looking forward to this opportunity to continue to do what I love to do and represent the Wave for the next 3 years,” Ribeiro stated.
